Book Nine, The Osanë, coming soon
The tension mounts in the rival cities of Cazam Goral and Condoria Biarma because Drystyn Wardyne, (alias Mordaunt D'Alneto,) the tyrant ruler of Arcaikos, has discovered that as a partaker of the evil relic, the Heart of Sulyan, he can control Dragons.
He has found out too, where the Ddraig Anobaith, (The Dragon of Despair,) was banished seventy years ago by the Immortal Caelan. He intends to capture and command the monster and terrorise and destroy his enemies.
The Dragons' greatest fear, that a partaker will learn this secret, command them and take their freedom begins to look very likely.
The Ddraig Anobaith is a hybrid monster awkened by the cunning Sorceresses known as The Triune, who are triplets with many varying powers but little self control. They were altered before birth by the High Priestess, Becuma of Sulya, out of spite and jealousy of their parents - the Sorcerer Caradoc Dewin and The powerful High Veleta, Mair of the Calen. TheTriune have one very superior mind between three bodies and usually all speak together in a most unnerving manner.
Master Guardian Marc, D’Alneto’s second in command, is horrified by his master's intention and decides to try to use the arcane rite of 'Speaking with the Dead,' to contact his lost mother Darylis, for help and advice. However, he becomes wary of her after she reveals her lust for power and control. He is unaware that his parents, Darylis and the insufferable Mathonwy Caelan, aided by the Triune, are already plotting to make him their puppet ruler.
The terrifying Triune want revenge and they make D'Alneto promise to take the Ddraig Anobaith to Sulya to destroy the High Priestess Becuma. They also demand the destruction of any remaining Immortal Caelan, particularly the living statues in the Treasury of Cazam Goral and D'Alneto's half-sister, Arianwen, whom he is shocked to discover is still alive and is leading the rebels against him.
D'Alneto's son Ruis and the Sorceress Seren, having survived the Great Storm, find themselves following unexpected and separate paths in Condoria where the Rulers of Condoria Biarma and Sulya continue to build their defences, aided by the increasingly unhappy Dragons.
Fear of the Ddraig Anobaith makes the Rulers hesitate to rely only on the Veleta to save them but Arianwen and Rowenna have other ideas and produce a controversial plan. They realise that the people of Condoria and Sulya face certain annihilation unless they take some unthinkable risks that involve sharing Veleta secrets with one of their enemies … but can or will they take the risk?
